$500 Travel Allowance\n\nCONTRACTOR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nExperience: The Contractor must have a resume that provides experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and\nabilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position.\n\nThis pharmacist technician position is located in the Pharmacy Department of the Taos- Picuris Service Unit (Health Center) in Taos, NM.\nThe ambulatory clinic provides a full range of medical, dental and community health services on an outpatient basis. The purpose of this\nposition is to provide direct outpatient pharmacy services.\n• Extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practices, pharmaceutical and medical nomenclature, trade names – generic name equivalents,\navailable dosage forms and strengths, as well as units-of-measure.\n• Must be able to interpret a prescription order.\n• Must possess substantial knowledge of the metric system of weights and measures and skill in pharmaceutical mathematical computations.\n• Knowledge of inventory control including the appropriate storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals and the rotation of stock.\n• Knowledge of how to procure pharmaceuticals and supplies.\n• Knowledge of use of the telephones, the Universal drug counter, the photocopier, the label printer, the pharmacy computer software and computers for\nfilling prescriptions, placing drug orders, retrieving data and creating documents as directed.\n• Assures proper attention to labeling needs, including specifying directions for use and precautions as necessary.\n• Work’s under the supervision of the pharmacist on duty or the Chief Pharmacist.\n• Receives the pharmacy prescriptions dispensing reports electronically via-on-line billing system. Determine if the prescription written by\nthe provider is billable as define by the Indian Health Service guidelines and inputs data into the system accordingly. Verify prescription\namount dispensed for reimbursement.\n• Contact healthcare provider for additional information when services are rendered to patient and prescription written for the patient is not\nclear, or when more details are needed to complete the forms for the episode of care.\n• Retrieves medical records. Researches patient records, reconstructs incorrect or missing medical information required to prepared a valid\ninsurance billing when data received is incomplete.\n• Able to analyze information regarding Medicaid programs in order to document correctly in the patient record and Point-of-Sale system\n(POS).\n• Knowledge of specific pay plans and groups numbers in order to accurately enter the information into the POS computer to insure they are\nprocessed and paid.\n• Research and follow-up on rejected claims on-line in order to ensure maximum reimbursement to the facility. Works with the various\nPharmacy Benefits Managers helpdesks to fix rejects within specified time frames. This includes telephone contacts and any steps\nnecessary for satisfactory resolution of the claim. Documents all information in the medical chart and the POS.\n• Serves as a technical resource for the on-line billing system program, provide on-going or orientation and training to staff personnel.\nFollows and abides by all policies and procedures in the IHS Pharmacy Manual as well as any TPSU procedure manuals and have a\nthorough understanding of pharmaceutical care.\n• Contractor will work with TPSU Patient Benefits Coordinator of Business Office designee to ensure patient insurance files are correct and\nupdated as necessary to decrease errors.\n• Willingness to provide secretarial and technical pharmacy services for the pharmacy department.\n• Ability to work long periods or regular and recurring standing, walking, and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs. Manual dexterity and good vision are\nalso required.\n• Willingness to follow standard precautions while working in a healthcare facility.\n• Observes and abides by all Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Taos-Picuris Service Unit.\n\n\n
