Location: The Village of Eagle Nest, New Mexico
Job Summary:
The Village of Eagle Nest is seeking a motivated and skilled Public Works Operator to join our team and assist in the maintenance and operation of village infrastructure and facilities. This position involves hands-on work in various aspects of public works, including streets, utilities, parks, and facilities, to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our community.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Maintenance:
1. Street and Sidewalk Maintenance:
o Repair potholes, cracks, and signs on streets and sidewalks.
o Assist with snow removal and street cleaning operations.
2. Utility Operations:
o Assist in the operation and maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection systems, and stormwater management facilities.
o Conduct routine inspections and repairs to ensure system functionality.
3. Facilities Maintenance:
o Perform maintenance and repairs to village buildings, parks, and recreational facilities.
o Assist in landscaping, mowing, and upkeep of public areas.
Equipment Operation:
Heavy Equipment Operation:
o Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, dump trucks, and loaders for construction and maintenance tasks.
o Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of equipment
Team Support:
Collaboration:
o Work collaboratively with Public Works Supervisor and team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
o Assist in special projects and emergency response efforts as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
Safety Practices:
o Adhere to safety protocols and procedures in all operations.
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in public works or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in public works, construction, or maintenance work is advantageous.
• Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in public works operations.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required or must be obtainable within a specified timeframe.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication skills.
