A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the upcoming school year at a high school located in Taos, NM. This role offers a contract position focused on supporting high school students with special needs, with a preference for candidates who have expertise in special education math instruction. The position is structured for 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' academic and developmental needs.
- Provide specialized instruction and support in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction to promote academic growth.
- Facilitate behavior management plans and support social-emotional development.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or licensure applicable for New Mexico.
- Experience working with high school students with special needs, with a preference for math instruction.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and positive learning environment.
